Before the screw was made and standardised, people held jobs as craftsmen and specialists, however, after standardisation things were all standardisation and they do not need customisation any more, and people had to change their jobs into machine men, learning how to operate the machine to create the products they were customising.

The metal-turning lathe, first invented (believe it or not) to mass-produce screws in the 1700's, allowed the manufacture of all kinds of precisely sized parts for everything from steam engines to chronometers. The Steam Engine was very essential for the boom during the Industrial Revolution. This boosted the economic growth in many countries by several folds because of the ability of mass production

The Industrial Revolution was a period where manufacturing processes changed from handÂmade to machines. This was the period of the machineÂtool industry, which provided the infrastructure for the commercialization of screws to take off. As a result, tools such as screw lathes and screw cutters were made so that screws could be massÂproduced. Their machine could cut 10 screws per minute and was considered one of the precursors to mass production machinery. Standardization also arrived at this

Even now, the formation of repairing jobs such as plumbers or technicians, they are just workers who repair machines which require screws, they need not produce the type of products they are repairing or carrying out maintenance on.

Screws(subset of fasteners) have risen to a global demand of about $52 billion in 2007 because it is essential in many parts of the industry such as the motor vehicle industry and aerospace industry.

Screws are very essential in creating machines. They have eased the trouble of hand-making every single product. These machines which are very prevalent during the Industrial Revolution, allowed goods to be produced in large batches. Screws were also widely used in automobiles, weapons, computers etc. during the 20th century bringing about new inventions
